I commit to becoming versatile with the DISC tool. I will become more familiar with each of the types by reviewing my notes on the characteristics of each. Then by being mindful of my daily interactions and being intentional about which DISC style or combination of styles would be the most effective in the given situation. at the end of each day, I will reflect on at least one interaction and rate my overall effectiveness in adapting my DISC to the situation. I will think about what worked well, what could have worked better and what will I do differently in the future. I will do this everyday for two weeks.
I commit to becoming more versatile with the Drexler/Sibber Stages of Team Performance model. I will become more familiar with each of the stages by reviewing the class material. Then I will analyze at least one group that I think is performing highly and examine what lessons can be gleamed from that team's successes. I will also analyze at least one group that isn't functioning so well and try to figure out where they are in the model and what can be done to get the team on track to becoming a high performing team.

Great LP's, Alan! Very good application of the these two models explored in class. I hope your focus on them leads to some good insight. I look forward to your reflections on these. Best wishes!

These are great leadership practices, Alan. And, I like how you described exactly how you will pursue your practices. This will hold you more accountable. If you're interested in running through a situation with me, just for another perspective, I'd be more than happy to.

Hi Alan:
I think your are on target with believing there is value in understanding the DISC model. After spending some time with it, I to believe that knowing peoples type could be a valuable tool to being able better communicate with them.
Best Wishes, Michael

Progress has been slow in working on these leadership practices, due to the current work load. I haven't had time to review the DISC or Team Performance model material so that I can get a better grasp of each. However, I have been trying to figure out which DISC categories some people would likely fall into so that I can try to adapt my style to theirs for a better interaction. I have also been analyzing some of the teams I'm working on to evaluate where we are in the productivity scale.
More to come...
