Leading Teams--Build a tower, build a team
The Marshmallow Challenge sounds simple enough.. tape, spaghetti sticks, string, and one marshmallow. When I first viewed this video, first I had flashbacks to the dots candy, toothpicks, and lots of laughs … then I thought “What does this have to do with leading teams?”
Why conduct the Marshmallow Challenge?
What the challenge does is provide an opportunity for collaboration, innovation, creativity, and team building. By working together and figuring things out together the teams are able to achieve something great. It is not all about one person and their jockeying for position in the activity. This is definitely an exercise that gets the message across and can be done in any of our offices. I am planning to do this activity with my Division office (in November) as team building exercise. To keep my accountable, I plan to share photos in the future.

When I saw the title my first thought was of our own tower challenge in class. I find it funny that the kindergarteners have some of the best success in this challenge. Like you said they aren't jockeying for the lead, they are working together to find a solution. while some formally trained individuals are seeking to lead, not as worried about the task at hand. Thanks for posting.
