There were several bullets under "Areas for Improvement" within my DISC. I am going to commit to working on those. Improvements in these areas will certainly be beneficial to my ability to lead and supervise. I commit to the following leadership practices during these two weeks prior to the end of our session:
1. I commit to not being so impulsive. I am working on 'slowing down', taking in the information, processing the information and then making rational decisions. I am an out of the box thinker and oftentimes I find myself moving fast so that I cannot talk myself out of whatever it is that I am thinking. As a supervisor, I see how this could be difficult for someone trying to follow my lead. I may in the process fail to adequately communicate the goal or objective, which means I am setting myself up to ultimately fail those who are counting on me.
2. I commit to focusing more on the details and not just the results. This is directly related to being impulsive. I do have a tendency to focus more on results and not details. However, as a supervisor, I need to be sure to focus on the details so that I can keep myself and my subordinates out of trouble. I will remain results-oriented, however, I will take a little more time to ensure I pay attention to the details.

Great LPs, Trinette! As you point out, these two are nicely related. How will you measure these efforts and know that they are having the impact you hope for? How might you be somewhat reflective here about how this is going for you? Best wishes with these!

Awesome goals! Do you mind if I borrow them? I sometimes call this the right now movement--get to the end result, make up the rules as you go. This is not something that I want to keep in my handbag when leading a team. It is so beneficial to understand the details of what you are doing so you won't be caught off guard and have the appearance of being unprepared. I have to make that conscience effort to channel my energy into the details, not to the nth degree, but well enough to support my team at any given situation.

Thanks for your reply! The best way to measure these would be to reflect on the responses. Was I surprised by the response to my efforts? Could I have accomplished the task even if I had not made the commitment? Why or Why not? Am I giving my best?
There are no metrics for these commitments. This is more about holding myself accountable on how I work with my peers.
