The focus of this article is Employee Engagement. The article discusses the three principles that leaders must follow to build employee engagement: Consistency, Communication, and Combat. It is important that leaders have consistency, otherwise leaders will loose confidence in those that they are leading. It is important to provide consistent guidance, support and direction during normal day to day and during any shift in company policy or direction. Another principal leaders must follow is open and clear communication. This directly ties in with the third principal, combat. By keeping the lines of communication open a leader will lessen push back from the "rumor mill". Employees will be more engaged by knowing the reasoning behind decisions and how their work fits into the broader picture. From this article I feel that communication should be the top principle practiced not only by leaders, but by everyone. Having open and clear communication lessens or prevents confusion or assumptions. It helps keep people engaged in the work and lets them know how what they do has a purpose and how their work affects others.

You commonly hear about the importance of Consistency and Communication for employee engagement. But, I found 'combat' to be an interesting angle. Thanks for sharing!
